Shooting from the middle of Congress with the Capital as the backdrop was our final stop!

Gillian + Cliff’s wedding is featured in Style Me Pretty today!  I get so excited when we’re able to get a wedding published especially with Style Me Pretty, not only are they highly discerning and discriminating but they may currently be the most influential resource for couples planning their wedding.  I feel very honored!  A big huge thanks to Beth at 36th Street Events for pulling everything together and to Deb Robinson for helping me shoot such a great wedding.

I can not help but get a huge smile going through Gillian + Cliff’s pictures.  They are SO happy, Gillian has this infectious smile that you can’t but help but feel her joy when you see get a glimpse of it.  It’s contagious.  They had such a gorgeous wedding and a really great couple to work with.  I knew they were going to be a great couple when I first meet with Gillian, we talked about doing a First Look because pictures with her and Cliff together were really, really important.  However they both wanted to go the traditional route and not see each other before the ceremony BUT they did plan an hour to shoot together between the ceremony and reception!  On the drive between the two we stopped at the Capital to shoot on the grounds right before the sun was going to set.  It couldn’t have been planned any better!

Dustin and his team are super-talented.  If you’re considering a videographer. you have to check them out!  Not only is his work amazing, but just as important (important to me anyway), he and his team are great to have around.  After all, you want to hang out with people you like on your wedding day!

When I first met Kat + David we were talking about  their first date which included a stop at ToyJoy.  I begged and pleaded, “PLEASE can we shoot there!?!?” (actually, now that I think about it, it’s possible that they begged and pleaded with me…hmmmm?)  We did a redo of part of the first date along with a faux proposal… batman ring and all (totally not first date!).  Oh, and that’s the image they displayed at the reception,  I love it and it’s so them!

True to their Austin theme Courtney + David were married with Downtown Austin as their backdrop at the iconic Zilker Clubhouse.  Courtney+ David are not from Austin, but met here and grew together as couple here, so a whole bunch of Austin’s cool and unique establishments made an appearance at the wedding – Home Slice, The Peach Tortilla and Amy’s just to name a few.  I’ve never shot a wedding at the Zilker Clubhouse, but it was great fun!  Gorgeous weather surrounded by some of Austin’s best traditions and a great couple – it just doesn’t get any better than that!

This was also my first trip out to Camp Lucy (I did my second wedding there a few weeks later) and it is spectacular – truly and utterly fantastic.  The grounds, the building – the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the buildings alone are amazing.  All this with a great staff – super-nice people and extremely attentive.  Can you tell I am totally digging this place???

]]> http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/bridal/taylors-bridal/feed/ 0 Jen and Adam’s Wedding http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/wedding/jen-and-adams-wedding/ http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/wedding/jen-and-adams-wedding/#comments Tue, 14 Feb 2012 15:23:28 +0000 admin http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/?p=3929 Where do I start?  Jen and Adam’s wedding was gorgeous!  When you first pull up to the Belle Oaks Inn, it’s very impressive, but once I had the chance to make my way around, I was blown away!   Jana, Jen’s planner and her team, did an absolutely amazing job with the décor; It was over-the-top when coupled with the Inn and it’s grounds.  Oh, and we narrowly missed a killer thunderstorm by just a miles that day.

They had their cake and got to eat too (I’ve never fully understood that saying… who gets cake and then doesn’t eat it?).  What I really mean is Jan and Adam did a first -look, so they were able to shake those pre-wedding jitters with a little bit of time to themselves, but we were also able to shoot on the grounds before the place filled up with wedding guests.  So we had this amazing venue, with killer decor AND we were able to shoot our happy couple and bridal party in it (something we couldn’t have done otherwise).  I was in wedding photographer heaven!  The ceremony was perfect, the reception was a blast and it was so much fun getting to shoot with a couple and their friends that already knew and worked with me before, it made it so much more personable!

They spend a lot of time Downtown with friends, so we started with a great view of Downtown and then made our way north, fitting in just about anything and everything along the way.
