]]> http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/bridal/taylors-bridal/feed/ 0 Jen and Adam’s Wedding http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/wedding/jen-and-adams-wedding/ http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/wedding/jen-and-adams-wedding/#comments Tue, 14 Feb 2012 15:23:28 +0000 admin http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/?p=3929 Where do I start?  Jen and Adam’s wedding was gorgeous!  When you first pull up to the Belle Oaks Inn, it’s very impressive, but once I had the chance to make my way around, I was blown away!   Jana, Jen’s planner and her team, did an absolutely amazing job with the décor; It was over-the-top when coupled with the Inn and it’s grounds.  Oh, and we narrowly missed a killer thunderstorm by just a miles that day.

They had their cake and got to eat too (I’ve never fully understood that saying… who gets cake and then doesn’t eat it?).  What I really mean is Jan and Adam did a first -look, so they were able to shake those pre-wedding jitters with a little bit of time to themselves, but we were also able to shoot on the grounds before the place filled up with wedding guests.  So we had this amazing venue, with killer decor AND we were able to shoot our happy couple and bridal party in it (something we couldn’t have done otherwise).  I was in wedding photographer heaven!  The ceremony was perfect, the reception was a blast and it was so much fun getting to shoot with a couple and their friends that already knew and worked with me before, it made it so much more personable!

They spend a lot of time Downtown with friends, so we started with a great view of Downtown and then made our way north, fitting in just about anything and everything along the way.

]]> http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/bridal/jens-bridal/feed/ 0 Heather + Josh Barr Mansion Engagement http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/engagement/heather-josh-barr-mansion-engagement/ http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/engagement/heather-josh-barr-mansion-engagement/#comments Mon, 30 Jan 2012 21:58:58 +0000 admin http://www.mikereedphoto.com/blog/?p=3868 So, when I talk to couples of about photographing their engagement session we talk about how to incorporate their personalities and their unique relationship into the shoot.  For some couples it’s props, for others it’s just giving them enough space to be themselves.  In Heather and Josh’s case it was a little of both.  We started with just them and what was just KILLER late afternoon light (love their expressions!).  Next we moved to soccer, they both played in college and later met while Josh was coaching a  team.  Working in a couple of jerseys was a must!  We wrapped with something completely different (for me anyway).  It was a really light-hearted and fun.  It played off Josh’s being a contractor and…well Heather’s unease with a tape measure and really any other building tools or supplies!

It’s been amazing, but my blogging, social networking, movie watching; basically anything that wasn’t shooting, editing or working with a bride and/or groom, has taken a backseat.  It’s been a great learning experience in prioritizing what’s really important in life.

OK, on to the part I’m really excited about ….and that’s getting published in “the knot”s” Spring/Summer 2012 edition (on newsstands now)!  Very excited!  Selena and Chris were such a great couple and I was really happy to see them get in print.

Now onto posting all those great shoots from this past fall!

Here’s Beth + Erron’s early (way early) morning engagement session.  Early morning ensures you beat the heat and the crowds!  If you ever have the choice between 107 degrees and 85 for your engagement session, I highly recommend 85, you get a much fresher version of you and your fiancee!
